Your Cadaqués guide

Cadaqués is an spanish municipality located in the Alt Empordà region on the eastern side of the Cap de Creus Natural Park, at the end of the Rodes mountain range. The rugged and steep character of the coast is determined by the contact of the Pyrenees with the Mediterranean, featuring numerous coves, cliffs, and small islets.

The name of Cadaqués is believed to have evolved from "Cabo de Quers" (rock cape) due to the large number of rocks found, particularly in the Cap de Creus area. The town's population is around 3,000, but it multiplies considerably during the summer and holiday seasons.

From the website motion4rent.com, you can find important information, places of interest, and tourist offices, as well as accessible beaches, adapted excursions, theme parks, accessible restaurants, and other offers for visitors with reduced mobility. Enjoy your stay!

Cadaqués Tourist office

The Cadaqués Tourist Office is located on the ground floor of an 18th-century maritime-style house, just a few meters away from Platja Gran. The house was once used as a wine cellar and the old wine press can still be seen in the office today. In addition to the main tourist office, there are three other tourist information points located at the entrance of the town, at Cap de Creus, and in Portlligat for the convenience of visitors.

Neighborhoods / Areas

Walk through the town:

Walking through Cadaqués can be challenging for people with reduced mobility due to the town's narrow and sloping streets. Many of the streets are cobbled with rocks extracted from the sea, making it difficult for wheeled vehicles to navigate.

The promenade (Calle Riba Nemesi Llorens) is well-paved and does not have a steep slope, making it a good option for people with reduced mobility. However, it is not recommended to explore the inner alleys of the town as they may have more obstacles and uneven surfaces.

It's always a good idea to check with the local tourist office or website for the most up-to-date information on accessibility and to plan your route accordingly.

Visit to Cap de Creus

Visiting Cap de Creus, located just a short distance from Cadaqués, is a must-do when in Cadaqués. The natural park offers incredible views of the Mediterranean, and the lighthouse is a great spot to take in the sights.

The best way to get to Cap de Creus from Cadaqués is by private car, but taxis are also available. The journey is about 8 km and takes around 18 minutes by car on a twisty road. The best time to go is at sunrise to be one of the first on the peninsula to see the sun in the morning.

Casa Serinyana (Serinyana House)

Casa Serinyana, also known as "La Casa Blaua" is a private property located on the seafront in Cadaqués. The house is a modernist-style building, built in 1913 by Salvador Sellés, in the purest style of Catalan modernism. The house covers 625 m2 and was restored in the 1980s, but still maintains its original essence and charm. It is known for its blue ceramic elements that frame doors and windows, wrought iron balconies, frescoes on the ceilings, hydraulic mosaic on the floor, art nouveau tiles and Murano lamps.

Unfortunately, it is not accessible to visit inside, but still it is an interesting place to see from outside.
