With its mild Atlantic climate and long daylight hours, Lisbon is great to explore at an easy pace with a mobility device. Mix riverside walks along the Tagus, modern districts and accessible museums with tasty stops for bacalhau, grilled sardinhas and the famous pastéis de nata at street-level cafés.
Yes—with nuances. The waterfront, Baixa and modern areas like Parque das Nações offer smooth surfaces, dropped kerbs and wide public spaces. Historic hills feature slopes and traditional calçada portuguesa (stone paving) that can feel uneven; by choosing flatter routes, your visit stays comfortable and safe. In summer, plan walks in the morning or at sunset for cooler temperatures.
Routes that work especially well with a wheelchair or scooter—combining culture, river views and food stops:

Yes. Most museums and cultural venues provide ramps, lifts and adapted routes. Some very old buildings may have limited areas, but there are accessible alternatives so you can enjoy the visit without barriers.
The most comfortable options are low-floor buses, the metro (accessibility varies by station) and taxis. For longer, smoother rides, prioritize the riverfront, Baixa, Avenida da Liberdade and Parque das Nações, which are flatter.
Baixa – Praça do Comércio – Cais do Sodré (level promenades and squares), Belém (riverside esplanades), Parque das Nações (flat, modern district) and Avenida da Liberdade (wide, shaded boulevard).

Lisbon is a very old city but the wheelchair helped enormously

Escalones en casi todos los pasos de cebra. Por no hablar de los comercios, locales, restaurantes, etc. Además, los históricos adoquines con sus desniveles y desperfectos, tampoco ayudan.

The tour bus company were very helpful and accommodated the wheelchair. The area around the cruise terminal was flat and wheelchair friendly as was the area around the Cathedral and nautical museum. Other areas were not as wheelchair friendly. We did enjoy our visit to Lisbon though.
