With its mild Nordic summers, long daylight hours and scenic waterfront promenades, Stockholm is a joy to explore at an easy pace with a mobility device. The city's islands are well connected, museums are modern, and the fika culture (coffee and kanelbullar) makes for perfect, street-level breaks between sights.
Yes—and thoughtfully maintained. You'll find wide pavements, kerb cuts and level public spaces across the city centre and along the water. In historic Gamla Stan some streets use cobblestones, but there are smoother alternative routes and level squares nearby. Summer is ideal for longer rolls; in winter, routes remain practical with well-kept streets—just plan cosy indoor stops.
Great, barrier-light routes that blend culture, water and urban nature:
Mix shoreline stretches with food breaks—salmon, köttbullar, and cinnamon buns—at street-level terraces.
