Nowhere is perfect for disabilities, but Palermo is often a real challenge. Pavements high, often too narrow for the chair. Tiled roads look lovely but chair often got stuck and very bumpy and tiring for the pusher and the wheel chair user. We would have loved to look at more of the little side roads but knew they would be too tricky with the chair.

Many sidewalks don’t have ramps. I drove in the street a lot. Many churches don’t have accessible entrances. Even the royal apartments had steps and level changes.
