It offers breathtaking views of the sea and can be accessed by a path that is accessible for people with reduced mobility. The castle was built in the 11th century for defensive purposes, but it suffered damage from various attacks over the years and was eventually destroyed by bombardment in the 19th century. People with reduced mobility can access the castle, but the tower can only be climbed via spiral stairs and is not accessible by wheelchair.

The Museu del Mar offers a journey through the history of Lloret de Mar and its close relationship with the sea. It is located in Can Garriga, a 19th century Indian house with three floors that is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
The museum is located next to the Tourist Office and is divided into various thematic groups such as trade, travel, and experiences related to the maritime environment. The first group, called Fills del Mar, covers four historical stages of Lloret de Mar: the Iberian occupation, the Greco-Roman period, the Middle Ages, and the era of cabotage and deep-sea navigation. Mare Nostrum is dedicated to the construction of ships and features various scale models. The Gates of the Ocean: Sailing Around the World explores maritime trade routes to distant lands.
The next group, Lloret after the Sailboats, examines the period of crisis that followed the decline in maritime activity after 1860 due to the expansion of steamships. Finally, the Més enllà de la Platja exhibition group showcases other heritage elements of the town, such as Iberian archaeological sites, the neoclassical gardens of Santa Clotilde, and the medieval castle of Sant Joan.
Guided tours are organized on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

The Lloret de Mar cemetery preserves an important Indian legacy, but please note that it is NOT accessible to people with reduced mobility. The cemetery was established in 1891, when the location was chosen and the architect Joaquim Artau i Fàbregas was commissioned to design it.
The project was funded by private initiatives, particularly by families closely related to overseas trade and directly linked to the Barcelona bourgeoisie. Renowned architects such as J. Puig i Cadafalch also contributed to the project. The cemetery is organized according to social hierarchy, with the tombs of the private patrons (the "indianos") located on the main avenue. To the right and left of the main avenue are the second and third category hypogea. There is also an area for civil burials and another for unbaptized individuals.
The historical monuments of the cemetery have recently been marked with multilingual explanatory panels.

Transport
Airport:
Lloret de Mar is located between two airports, the most important is Barcelona, but even closer than Barcelona is Girona airport, but it does not have the connections that Barcelona has.
In addition to the airports, Lloret de Mar is also well connected by train and bus. There is a train station in Lloret de Mar, with regular services to other cities in the region, such as Girona and Barcelona. The bus station is located in the center of Lloret, with regular services to other towns and cities in the region, as well as to the airports.
There are also various companies offering rental car services at the airports and in the city center, which can be a good option for those who want to have more freedom to explore the region.

Train:
Lloret de Mar is well connected to nearby large cities through the suburban train line that connects all the coastal towns, including the major city of Barcelona. From Sants station or Plaza Catalunya, and also from Barcelona airport, Rodalies trains depart on the R1 line and take about an hour and a half to reach Blanes station, costing around 6 euros per person. The Pujol company operates daily buses from Blanes station to Lloret de Mar, which is a 6 kilometer journey that takes about 20 minutes. Both the train and the buses have seating accommodations for people with reduced mobility, and Blanes station has lifts and access ramps for people with reduced mobility. However, we recommend checking the accessibility details at each station, as not all stations are fully adapted for people with reduced mobility. In this case, Blanes station is fully accessible
LloretBus is the regular and urban transport service for the city of Lloret de Mar, operated by Sagalés. The company has a total of 5 regular lines serving a population of approximately 39,000 inhabitants. The bus service connects the city center with key locations such as educational and medical centers, tourist attractions, sports facilities, and shopping areas. It also provides transportation for residents who live in areas that are far from the city center. All Lloretbus vehicles are fully accessible for people with reduced mobility
In Lloret there are several companies that provide adapted taxi service, we suggest the local company, which has several taxis adapted for people with reduced mobility and provides service in the area

Arriving by car to Lloret de Mar is a good option as it allows you to move freely around Lloret and also visit nearby towns such as the beautiful Tossa, and explore the Costa Brava. It takes about an hour and a quarter to drive from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, and there are two roads that will take you there. In high season, we recommend taking the AP-7 and exiting at Vidreres to avoid the heavy traffic and queues on the section of the C-32 motorway that goes from Blanes to Lloret de Mar along the coast.

One of the main attractions of Lloret de Mar are its beautiful and clean beaches. Most of its 7 beaches have received the blue flag award, including Cala Canyelles, Platja Gran de Lloret, Platja de Fenals, Sa Boadella, and the beautiful Platja de Santa Cristina. Lloret de Mar Beach has a crane and access ramp to the sea, while Fenals Beach does not, but both beaches are equipped with services designed for people with reduced mobility.

Neighborhoods / Areas
Lloret de los Indianos:
Every June, the city of Lloret de Mar celebrates the "Indianos" party to remember the residents who went to make their fortune in the Americas during the first half of the 19th century. Some of them returned or contributed from a distance to the urban transformation of Lloret de Mar, building large mansions and other structures for the city with the help of some of the best architects of the time.
The Indian legacy has been preserved to this day, and you can take an interesting tour to see many of their contributions to the city, including the Casa Garriga, the Paseo de Jacint Verdaguer, the Town Hall, the church of Sant Romà, the modernist cemetery, and many other buildings.
There is an itinerary designed to be accessible in a wheelchair, which ends at Sa Caleta where there is a plaque in memory of the Indians who were not as fortunate. Please note that not all of the buildings mentioned are fully accessible for people with reduced mobility. We recommend visiting the central tourist office to obtain information on which buildings are accessible.
