Frequently Asked Questions – Rent a Wheelchair or Mobility Scooter in London

With its mild oceanic climate, riverside promenades and world-class museums, London is great to explore at an easy pace with a mobility device. Mix South Bank views, royal parks and accessible galleries with food breaks for afternoon tea, fish & chips and vibrant markets at street level.

1. Is London accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Yes. You’ll find wide pavements, curb cuts and many level public spaces (South Bank, royal parks). Major museums and attractions provide ramps, elevators and accessible restrooms. Some historic streets have cobblestones, but there are usually smoother alternative routes. Rain is common—plan indoor pauses and enjoy riverside and park routes when it’s dry.

2. Which accessible attractions can I visit with a mobility device?

Comfortable routes that blend river views, museums and parks:

  • South Bank – London Eye – Tate Modern: flat Thames-side path with step-free access and iconic views.
  • British Museum & National Gallery: highly accessible with signed routes.
  • Natural History Museum & V&A (South Kensington): step-free routes and elevators.
  • Tower Bridge – City Hall – Tower Pier: broad riverside esplanades and viewpoints.
  • Hyde Park / Kensington Gardens / Regent’s Park: level, wide paths for long, relaxed rides.
  • Greenwich (lower park & riverfront): paved sections with skyline views.
  • Borough Market & Covent Garden (main axes): smooth routes to sample local food between visits.

3. Where do you deliver the mobility equipment?

We offer delivery and pickup at:

  • Airports (e.g., Heathrow, Gatwick) — please provide your flight number and arrival time.
  • Hotels — we can leave the equipment at reception if the property authorizes it.
  • Homes / Apartments — someone must be present at the scheduled time.

You can also request delivery and pickup at different addresses within London.

4. Can I access museums and landmarks with a wheelchair or scooter?

Yes. Most major venues provide ramps, elevators and adapted routes. In very old buildings some areas may be limited, but accessible alternatives are available so you can enjoy the visit without barriers.

5. What’s the best way to get around London with reduced mobility?

Use low-floor buses (network-wide), the DLR and much of the London Overground with step-free access. Tube accessibility varies by station; combine surface routes with taxis and level riverside paths for longer distances.

6. Which areas are the most comfortable to explore?

South Bank – Westminster (level riverside), Hyde Park – Kensington Gardens (wide paths), Regent’s Park, Greenwich (lower park & riverfront) and central axes like Trafalgar – St James’s.

7. Do you offer same-day delivery?

In many cases yes, depending on availability and request time. Asking early helps secure your preferred slot.

8. Do you deliver on weekends and public holidays?

Yes. We operate deliveries any day of the week, including weekends and public holidays, subject to availability.

9. Is a refundable deposit required?

Some items may require a refundable deposit. The amount and conditions are clearly shown on each product page during booking.

Mixed bag, like many cities. Black cabs were excellent at handling wheelchairs. Many sites we visited had good provisions for wheelchair access. Lots of pubs had a step up, which limited choices. Overall peoples' attitude towards wheelchair use seemed helpful. Sidewalks ranged from smooth to a chaotic mess of broken pavements. Many of the curb cuts were far too steep (i.e steeper that recommended guidelines) or angled in a way that after you came down the cut, you weren't positioned in the direction you needed to go. To me, this is frustrating, but the reality of old buildings, old pavement, and attempts at "doing the right thing" that didn't follow the guidelines, which I have seen in many places.

Better than I expected for such an old city, London had gone out of their way to improve accessibility when compared to the other UK cities we visited on this trip.

The mobility scooter gave me the freedom to explore every inch of London which I couldn't have done while waiting for a new knee and hobbling along on a crutch.
